Trace

If you are experiencing a problem with the ActivTrak agent, you can generate debug information using the registry settings below.

When contacting tech support, you can expedite your case by emailing the debug output to support@bgrove.com.

Tip:  The trace feature can generate large files, especially for the monitor, so you may not want to turn it on for more than several days.

Monitor

To activate Trace for the Agent monitor, assign the following DWORD registry value:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Birch Grove\scthost\TraceMode = 1

By default the debug output is written to the text file

 c:\scthost_trace.log

but you may change the file name and location using the following String value:

 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Birch Grove\scthost\TraceFile = [full path]

Service

To activate Trace for the Agent service, assign the following DWORD registry value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Birch Grove\svctcom\TraceMode = 1

By default the debug output is written to the text file

 c:\svctcom_trace.log

but you may change the file name and location using the following String value:

 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Birch Grove\svctcom\TraceFile = [full path]

(Note that the monitor debug settings are in the user key of the registry and the service debug settings are in the machine key.)
